About Abide Interiors

Abide interiors were launched in 2016 by two best mates, Liam and Levi, from the Sunshine Coast, Qld. They are passionate about sourcing beautiful designer pieces and offering these at wholesale prices to the public. Abide Interiors are in a rapid growth phase of the business where they are constantly expanding their collection to incorporate pieces to suite Hamptons, Coastal, Island, Country, Transitional and Modern lines. Abide Interiors envision in the near future that their online collection will become a one-stop shop to suite the taste of almost any Australian on any budget.

After meeting with local and international furniture designers back in 2013, they realized that there is a far more effective way to deliver beautiful furniture and make it affordable without compromising on quality.


The Objective

Abide Interiors approached Digital Objectives to build an e-commerce website to market and sell their furniture to Australians. The requirements for the website were that needed to look clean, be easy to use and worked great for mobile shopping to keep up with online shopping trends. Search, fast load times and easy shipping was a must as well as the ability for Abide Interiors to make edits to the website themselves in the future.

The website also must be future proofed to keep up with shopping demands and increased inventory size.


The Project

The Design

The first step for this project was to concentrate on the design and layout of the website. The website must be built on WordPress and give the client the ability to make small changes at any time with ease. We put together a colour scheme that gave a sense of elegance and design and ensured it spoke the values that Abide Interiors operate by.

The layout of the website must be clean and easy to use to ensure a positive shopping experience on mobile, tablet and desktop. Each product page had to contain all of the necessary information that’s required for a potential customer to read and understand before purchasing, a clear and easy to understand checkout process and a home page that allowed Abide Interiors to update at any time as promotions changed.

We wanted to make product search much more intuitive. We believe that people are very familiar with the experience of a Google search. We wanted to replicate the same feeling when searching for something on Google on Abide Interiors’s e-commerce website. To do this, we integrated a suggestion based search which would load products as you type. This saves customers from having to click ‘enter’ to then scroll through the search results and hope they would find what they’re looking for.

It was important for Abide Interiors to have a product page allowing potential customers to view their products with easy, customise the product colour and size and have access to the details of the product. The layout also had to work perfectly for mobile, tablet and desktop with the ability to backorder if stock is not available, add to cart or add to wishlist.

Abide Interiors are determined to make high-quality furniture available on any budget for all Australians. That’s why having AfterPay integrated to their checkout was a smart move that supported their vision. Integrating AfterPay enabled customers the ability to purchase their goods on a payment plan that suited their budget with also the options to purchase via credit card or Paypal securely.

Mobile Responsiveness and Speed

Making the website mobile-responsive and mobile-strategic was important very important to Abide Interiors enabling them to shop on a desktop or on a tablet/mobile device. We at Digital Objectives optimized the checkout system for phones and tablets by having the shipping address connected to Google Maps for an easy automated experience.

Close attention was made to ensure that Abide Interiors new website loaded quickly. This was especially crucial for visitors to ensure everyone’s shopping experience is optimal.
